  • Christopher Marte

New York City Council rep. Christopher Marte has expressed his opposition to the 41-43 single men shelter at the QoL CB1 January meeting and promised to request to pause the signature of the lease. Write to him to check on his progress in pausing the process and involving our community.

  • Mark Levine

Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine has met our comunity at the January CB1 meeting and stated he would look into the 41-43 proposal, while reinforcing his commitment in addressing the mental health crisis. You can write to him to ask how cramming 170 homeless single men in less-than-prison-minimum-spaces would help their mental health, and most importantly to ask him to commit to pausing and reassessing the process.

  • Eric Adams

Mayor Eric Adams, ultimately, is the decision maker in this process. He can decide to go ahead, sign the lease with the landlord and the contract with Help USA; or he can choose to listen to the community, pause the process and assess its implications more in depth. The fact that his campaign received a generous donation from the 41-43 Beekman landlord might or might not influence his judgement - but our collective voice should count too.
